Upon arrival at Kigali airport, you will be transferred to your hotel. You will be collected from either the airport or your hotel. Accommodation prior to the tour’s departure can be arranged for an additional fee.

Day 1: Kigali City tour and journey to Volcanoes National Park.

You will be picked up from your hotel or the airport, followed by a brief tour of Kigali city, including a visit to the genocide memorial. Before starting your trip to Musanze, the second-largest city in Rwanda, through the stunning landscapes of Rwanda. Musanze, located against the backdrop of the five Virunga volcanoes, will serve as your base for exploring Volcanoes National Park.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and a visit to Gorilla Guardian Village or a Community tour.

Following an early breakfast at your hotel, you will head straight to the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park to meet your guides. After the briefing, you will set off on the unforgettable adventure of tracking the mysterious mountain gorillas.

The duration and difficulty of your tracking experience can vary, depending on the location of the gorilla family and the weather conditions. It may take anywhere from two to six hours of trekking through the mountainous forest at relatively high altitudes. Good physical fitness is highly recommended for those who wish to participate in this excursion.

This is likely to be one of the most unforgettable experiences of your life, as you will have the opportunity to spend an hour in proximity to the gorillas once you locate them. You will be fortunate enough to come within just a few meters of a family of these rare and magnificent creatures, observing their social interactions and learning about each gorilla’s unique personality in peaceful silence.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Gorilla Guardian Village (formerly known as Ibyiwacu Cultural Village) or engage in community activities at Red Rocks.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking and return drive to Kigali Airport.

Today, we will dedicate our time to tracking one of the primate species found in Volcanoes National Park, the stunning golden monkeys, which are exclusive to the Volcanoes Conservation Area.

You will navigate through sunlit clearings and thick bamboo forests in pursuit of these lively monkeys, who are quite familiar with human presence. This allows you to observe the golden monkeys as they engage in playful activities, feed, and leap from branch to branch, seemingly unaware of your presence. Although your interaction with the monkeys is limited to one hour, this duration is sufficient to appreciate these curious animals in their natural environment.
After enjoying a hearty lunch at your lodge in Musanze, you will head back to Kigali for your onward journey.
