Equipment for Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla trekking is an active safari activity where you need to hike through the forest Mountains with a thick forest floor. Therefore, you need to carry some equipment for your safety and the Mountain Gorillas.

Here’s what you need to carry

Rain jacket; These are rainforests, anytime the rain can fall. To keep your gadgets like cameras, watches and phones, you need to carry one as there are no shelters in the forests.

Long-sleeved Shirts and trousers; The forest has thorny vegetation like leaves and tree trunks. Having protective clothes is always recommeded for this activity.

Face masks: You will need a mask on your face once you get in sight of the Gorillas. This is to minimise the contamination of any infectious disease to the once endangered apes.

Drinking Water; Because you have to hike up in the mountainous forests, you will dehydrate most of the time. At least 2 liters of water is recommended to carry with you. For trekkers in Bwindi National park, you will need packed lunch. This is because the hikes take longer than expected.
