Gorilla safari parks – Volcanoes and Bwindi Forest National Parks

Getting to the gorilla destinations in Rwanda and Uganda depends on which parts of the countries you have started your safari from and what mode of transport you are using. There are three major gorilla national parks: Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, Mgahinga National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda.

Volcanoes National Park in the western province of Rwanda, in Musanze district, is 2 and a half hours from the capital Kigali by road. However, there are flying tours with private local charters from Kigali International Airport with Akagera Aviation.

On the other hand, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda is located in the southwestern part of Uganda. From Kigali, it’s a 4-hour drive and from Entebbe, the Capital of Uganda, it’s a 10-hour drive. There are daily local flights from Kampala to Kanungu and Kisoro, depending on which section of Bwindi you are going to..
