Gorilla Tours, Wildlife and Primate Safaris

Rwanda and tourism. The country has three major tourist destinations, and these draw hundreds of visitors each year to come and spend time here. These include Volcanoes National Park, which lies on the western side of the country, bordering DR Congo. This is one of the places in the world where Mountain Gorillas live. The Volcanoes National Park hosts the endangered golden monkeys, which are only found in the Great Virunga Mountains. The park is a reflection of the five volcanoes, which include Gahinga mountain, Sabinyo, Bisoke, Karisimbi and Muhabura mountains. These mountains form a reef of the Great Virunga Conservation area, which also includes Nyiragongo in the DR Congo. This Conservation area is home to over 600 mountain Gorillas, and over 200 gorillas live in the Volcanoes National Park. Rwanda has 21 habituated Gorilla families available for visitors and 4 golden monkey families. There are several hikes organized in Volcanoes National Park to Bisoke Mountain and Karisimbi. The park is a highly protected area for tourist activities, and it has seen an increase in Wildlife, especially the Mountain Gorillas.
