Chimp and Gorilla Trek

The Kyambura Gorge, commonly known as the Valley of Apes, is an extraordinary natural feature in the eastern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park in southwestern Uganda. This underground tropical forest, which is 100 meters deep and 11 kilometres long, was formed by the Kyambura River and serves as a lush, shaded haven for primates and a variety of bird species. The dense greenery presents a striking contrast to the surrounding open, sunlit savannah plains.

Chimpanzee Trekking

The gorge is particularly renowned for its small but habituated population of chimpanzees, offering visitors a unique wildlife experience.

– Permit Costs: Starting in 2026, the cost of chimpanzee trekking permits will be $100 USD for international visitors, $80 USD for foreign residents, and UGX 50,000 for citizens of East Africa.
